Eagle's Nest Week of 11-15-21

Week of 11-15-21

Hear from the Head

November 19,2021

Dear TIS Family,

This week we had a wonderful time at the Principals’ Coffee. For those who were unable to attend, we missed you and I hope that we can see you in the future. In this letter, I will not be able to summarize all of the information presented, but I will say that, as a father, I now feel more informed regarding how Daily 5 works in the classroom as well as the importance of healthy technology boundaries. A special thank you to Miss Barsalou and Mr. Sickler for providing those presentations. Regarding my portion of the presentation, here is a summary of my key topics

New Staff Update
We have been patiently waiting for the arrival of our new staff. Securing visas for United States citizens has been extremely difficult, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Here is the status update on our incoming families.

Ms. Butler: Quarantine completed
McTaggart Family: Two weeks of quarantine completed
Musser Family: One week of quarantine completed
Cotton Family: Three days of quarantine completed
Ferguson Family: To be determined
Nicholson Family: To be determined

Divisional principals will continue to provide updates via email as new staff arrive on campus and the plan to transition them into the classroom.

Recruiting Process
iSC schools recruit staff continuously, however, now is the start of the busiest season. This is an ongoing process because we are dedicated to thoroughly screening applicants to ensure we are hiring quality staff members to fill our positions. When it comes to recruiting, I believe that it is more important to find the right type of candidate than to fill the vacancy. I am pleased that we have a higher than expected retention rate for next school year, and my leadership team and I will continue to work diligently to find the right candidates for our school.

iSC Education Conference
Professional Development is fundamental to the success and growth of the school. This next week, all iSC staff will be participating in professional development through the iSC Education Conference. The staff will have opportunities to learn from keynote lectures, as well as topical workshops. These two days are filled with learning opportunities that challenge teachers to grow in their instructional practice by providing them with tools to implement into their classrooms. Please remember that there will be no school for students on these two days.

Secondary Drama
My family and I are excited to attend tonight’s performance of “That Time of Year.” I hope to see you there as we support the hard work of our drama staff and students.

Have a nice weekend.

Mr. Ryan Witt
Head of School
