Summer Education Opportunities - Summer classes
Date: July 13 – 24 (Monday through Friday)
Time: 8:30 am – 11:30 am
Who can participate?
Currently re-enrolled and newly enrolled TIS students entering grades JK – 10 for the 2020 - 2021 academic school year. Classes maybe grouped by division, e.g., ECC/Lower Elementary/Upper Elementary/Secondary.
What will be covered in the classes?
Students will have the opportunity to engage in summer classes focused on core educational studies.
Who will be teaching?
TIS staff currently in Tianjin
Will there be bussing?
Yes, bussing will be provided. (Normal bus stops will be available, but determined upon demand)
How do you register?
When does registration close?
Registration will close on Monday, June 22nd
Important: All students attending this summer program must continue to record daily temperatures in PowerSchool.
Summer Education Opportunities - Library
The library's summer session starts on June 22 and ends on July 24, on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 am to 3:15 pm; with Story Time on Mondays @ 10:30 am. We welcome returning students and staff who will be remaining in Tianjin during the summer to take advantage of the summer session. The library will resume its regular schedule on Monday, August 10. We wish you a fun-filled summer of reading.
IMPORTANT: Parents and students need to show their parent badge or student ID in order to enter the campus.

Please be aware that ELS students are requested to come in to school on August 6 and 7 for language assessments before school starts. Language assessments after the unusual semester we’ve had will ensure that ELS placement for the new school year will more accurately reflect each student’s abilities and progress.

Daily COVID-19 quarantine log entries
As we move into summer break, we will need to continue to provide a daily report to the local authorities. Please continue to complete your child's log at covid19.ldiglobal.org and this is especially important for students who will be coming for summer classes.

Please take advantage of summer time to catch up on immunizations, The tetanus booster is restricted inside China for children over 11 years old, so please check your child’s records to ensure that his/her tetanus is current. If your child’s last tetanus immunization was in 2011 or before, it is time for a booster. A current tetanus vaccination is highly recommended for any school trips.
**Remember to submit a copy of any updated immunization records to the Health Office by the end of summer vacation or the first week of school. Thank you for your cooperation.

From the PTO President
It has been difficult past few months for all of us because of the pandemic. PTO representatives have tried their best in this situation to communicate between school and parents. PTO efforts may have not been satisfactory in the some of the areas, but it has also encouraged some parents to step forward. I look at it in a positive way that our parents are willing to step up and also have ability to look at the parents concerns with a different perspective, which is beneficial for PTO and school.
We will be fully reassembling PTO steering committee for next year since most of the parents in current steering committee will be stepping down. I would like to encourage new faces and new perspectives so that the PTO steering committee becomes more effective and efficient to address all the parents concerns, also that we can make our community stronger and continue to provide a family-friendly environment for our kids in school.
We are implementing a new structure for the PTO steering committee. We have seen that different divisions (ECC, Elementary, Middle and High school) parents have different concerns so from next year we are planning to have representatives from all the divisions. Doing this will enable us to receive concerns and hear from all the parents.
I am looking forward to see new faces getting involved to make our PTO more effective for our kids, school and for ourselves.
