Dear Parents,
It was great to have so many dads join us for Doughnuts with Dad’s. What a joy to see our students with their dads outside playing and enjoying a doughnut together. This is a long-standing tradition at TIS that always builds great memories. We are excited to add a special day with moms coming up in May. Partnering with parents is such a joy and a great way to enhance students’ connection between home and school which promotes student learning.
Another great way to partner with parents is through parent teacher conferences. If you would like to schedule a parent conference with your child’s teacher, please contact Mrs. Wu at ext. 370. Next year, we will be making some changes to the way that conferences are done so please look for more information about this to come out in the fall.
Have a great Spring Break!

Dear Parents,
Quarter three is in the books, and what a great quarter it was. Students had opportunities to learn both in the classroom and in our plethora of co-curricular activities. In January, our high school students traveled to Sichuan and dazzled the science fair judges with their experiments. The next week, TIS hosted the LifePlus High School Basketball Tournament. This is one of my personal favorite events of the year. Teams from all of our six other schools competed for first place in our gym.
We kicked off February with an incredible China Day, showcasing our talented students and dedication of our teachers. February meant hosting another competition. This time it was VEX Robotics. Over 20 teams from several schools from all over the country arrived on our campus. The ingenuity and creative designs of our student-made robots was incredible. Then, our MUN students had the opportunity to travel to Yantai and participate there. Several of our students were either recognized as stand-out delegates or served in a leadership capacity as a chair.
In March, TIS hosted the Principals and Heads of School from our LifePlus system for a couple days of professional development and growth. Lastly, our seniors traveled to Wuhan for Senior Departure Seminar. This seminar was focused on binding connection and preparing for transition. Our students were encouraged and challenged through keynote speakers and a panel of experienced Third Culture Kids to begin planning how they will manage the huge life change they all will experience. It’s not easy to graduate and move into the next stage of life. I’m grateful TIS equips our seniors and walks beside them so they can continue to succeed once they walk across the stage and into the future.
When we return after break, I’m excited to have Parent Teacher Conferences on April 12. Middle School students have been hard at work during their advisory times, preparing to present evidence of their learning to their parents on this day. All middle schoolers will be required to come to school to give this brief presentation. Mrs. Zhao has scheduled all of these appointments and will be reaching out shortly to notify all middle school students and their parents when you will come to school.
High school parents are encouraged to reach out to the High School Secretary to arrange a meeting with individual teachers. This will be a great day for students to reflect on their learning and for teachers and parents to continue partnering together in student education.
I hope you have a blessed Spring Break and special time with your family.
