Dear Parents,
As we begin the month of May, the end of the year is in sight. It is always a bittersweet time of year. A number of events happen each week. It is a great time to strengthen friendships and connections with teachers before we say goodbye to some friends.
At our international school, goodbyes are a natural part of our lives. It's crucial for your child's emotional well-being that you engage in conversations about these goodbyes. They can be challenging, especially when they start to accumulate, potentially reopening old wounds for children. If you need resources to guide your child through this process, please don't hesitate to reach out to me via email at danibeth.barsalou@tiseagles.com or through the TIS principal ClassDojo.
Please see below for all the upcoming school events in the next few weeks.
Warmly,
Miss Barsalou
Secondary
Dear Parents,
As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers. And with all the rain last month, I have really enjoyed seeing the beautiful blooms around Tianjin and TIS. With reminders of spring all around us, I wanted to remind you of a few things also happening this spring.
We will have the Secondary Spring Concert on Friday, May 24. This is one of my favorite concerts all year long as it serves as the culmination of an entire year’s hard work by our students. The band and choir will not disappoint, and I am so grateful to Mr. Emerson and Mrs. Chen for their excellence in teaching our students. Be sure to mark your calendars for Friday night, May 24 , and I look forward to seeing you there!
Another one of my favorite spring traditions is Spring Trips. Spring Trips are an integral part of our holistic education here at TIS. Trips will occur from May 27 through May 31.
Each trip is designed for students to explore and learn about Chinese culture all around the country. They also serve as a time to make memories and build strong connections with their peers. These experiences shape students and staff alike. I remember my first spring trip, seven years ago. I was in awe of the Karst Mountains of Guilin. I had never seen such beauty before and was thrilled that I was a teacher at a school that prioritizes these trips for students.
You should already have received a parent letter from your child’s teacher trip leader. You can expect more communication the closer we get to these trips. If you have specific questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or to me at jacob.way@tiseagles.com.
I am excited to hear all of the fun stories that students have on Spring Trips!
