Hear from the Head

TIS Family,

TIANMUN XII

TIANMUN XII is well underway here at Tianjin International School. Our school's students participating in Model United Nations have been a beloved tradition for 12 years. From Thursday through Saturday this week, nearly 250 students are engaged in research, writing, debate, and public speaking. Furthermore, MUN allows students to utilize their learned leadership skills and develop new ones. Please join me in celebrating our students for their hard work.

Quality for Life

The November LifePlus Quality for Life is Curiosity. We are created to be curious people. It is natural for us to pursue purpose in our lives. However, I’ll admit that a challenging thing for me to do is watch a curious person make a mistake, especially when there is risk involved that may cause harm. However, I learned a long time ago that curiosity resulting in errors is necessary, and sometimes, the best thing I can do is create boundaries and stop watching. So, develop boundaries and join me in letting our children’s curiosity lead to their growth.

LifePlus Professional Development

There is no school for students on November 22nd, as teachers will be engaged in dedicated professional development time. LifePlus sets aside time throughout the school year to ensure our teachers and staff continuously improve as professionals. Educational best practice continues to develop, and LifePlus is committed to ensuring our schools grow with time.

Principals' Coffee

Later this month, we will have our second Principals’ Coffee this school year. These events are always a special time for us, and we look forward to every opportunity. Each one is meant to be slightly different to ensure that our parent community continues to grow in their understanding of the culture of Tianjin International School. We look forward to seeing you there.

Well wishes to everyone performing at the Fine Arts Celebration next Friday evening.

Health Office

The winter is coming, and the following period is the most susceptible time to catch a cold. At this time, we need to pay attention to personal hygiene and keep warm to prevent infectious diseases. Because infectious diseases are widely spreading in the city currently, especially among lower-grade students, it would be easy to catch them and should be paid attention to. Please help us to maintain a safe and healthy environment at school by not sending your child to school if they are ill, have a cough or runny nose that cannot be independently controlled inside a classroom, fever at or above 37.7˚C (100˚F), rash related with illness (hand-foot-mouth disease, chicken pox, measles, roseola, etc.), or have vomited or had diarrhea (three or more watery stools in a day) from sickness in the past 24 hours. Even if your children get a lower fever (below 37.7˚C), with any feeling unwell, it’s the best way to let them rest sufficiently at home until full recovery. Your child must be fever-free for 24 hours without any fever-reducing medication to return to school.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep TIS a healthy and safe environment.
