Hear from the Head
TIS Family,
Tianjin is in full blossom! The smell of lilacs filled the air as bright pink, purple, yellow, and white covered the landscape. The season's beauty brings people outdoors to enjoy the weather with family and friends. Living in a place where seasons change is one of the most beautiful ways to understand and appreciate creation in its remarkable beauty.
Tianjin International School continues to blossom during this season of the year. Today, we had a wonderful time enjoying Doughnuts with Dads, which models the connectedness we value at home and school. Student-led Conferences on April 17th and 18th will provide evidence of the well-rounded understanding of education our students receive as they formally report to you their progress. Representing our school and LifePlus, I’ve also been invited to participate on the Engagement Review Team to assess another Educational Services Agency’s Accreditation with Cognia all next week. It is great to see how these three things model how Tianjin International School continues to Learn, Love, and Lead.
Principals' Coffee
Our final Principals’ Coffee of the year will occur on April 30th. Please make the time to attend this event. I will be addressing our plans for some key updates that will take place in preparation for next school year. Then, the divisions will split, and the Principals will use the remaining time to discuss division-specific information, like scheduling, course offerings, and report cards. Again, please attend, and we look forward to seeing you.
Re-enrollment
Our annual re-enrollment season is coming soon. Please look for information that explains this vital process. Of course, we don’t want anyone in the TIS family to leave our school, and we hope you will ALL re-enroll, but we understand it is not realistic for some. If you are going, please communicate that information accordingly. It is valuable for our planning to know at the earliest convenience.
Warm regards,
Ryan Witt

Health Office
For the safety of students during extracurricular activities and travel, a tetanus booster shot is also required by the school. TIS requirement of Tdap/DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis three-in-one) is five doses for Grades 1-8. Students must have a booster dose of Tdap after the age of 10 and before Grade 9. In compliance with the recommendations of the CDC/WHO for the safety of all students and in preparation for upcoming TIS Spring trips, all students in Grades 5-12 are required to have a current tetanus vaccination. The tetanus vaccination may be given as either childhood DTaP or adult Td/Tdap and should be updated every 10 years. Our records indicate that some students are due for the Td/Tdap booster since the last shot was about, or more than, 10 years ago. The tetanus booster is not available in China for children older than 12, so getting it outside of China is our best option right now. Please check your children’s immunization records and make plans to obtain this vaccine while traveling outside China. If your child missed this vaccination or others, the holidays are a good opportunity to get a catch-up shot. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep TIS a healthy and safe environment.
