Winter Weather

There is definitely a winter chill in the air! During these colder months we will be following the policy below to determine whether or not students can take part in outdoor activities. It is important for your child to have a coat, hat and gloves at school each day for when they are able to go outside and play!

Cold Weather Policy

If the real feel or wind chill is below 10 degrees Fahrenheit/-12 degrees Celsius, the children will not go outside to play. The principal or secretary will check http://www.accuweather.com/en-us/cn/tianjin/tianjin/quick-look.aspx?cityid=106780 for the current temperature.

Christmas Concert – Thursday, Dec. 21st

The students are to wear a white shirt (without writing), black pants, dark socks and dark shoes for the concert. This will be a great opportunity to see what the students have been learning in music class this year! Come and enjoy our beautiful Christmas stories told through music! Merry Christmas!

Fall Play

Please come to support the many middle school students participating in this year’s fall production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. The performances are on the Friday and Saturday of December 8th and 9th.

Christmas Concert

Our students have been working hard to prepare an excellent exhibition of their musical talent this semester. The Middle School Christmas Concert will be held on Friday, December 15th at 7p.m. in the school auditorium.

Help us look our best for the Middle School Christmas Concert:

All Middle School students need to wear their “concert uniform” for their performance on December 15th. This includes:

  • For Boys: White dress shirt (no writing or pictures), black tie, black pants, black belt, black shoes, and black socks.  (blue, grey, and other colors are not acceptable)
  • For Girls: White dress shirt or blouse (no writing or pictures), black pants or skirt, black shoes, and black socks/stockings/nylons.  (blue, grey, and other colors are not acceptable)

Note: For girls’ skirts, please make sure they are long enough to be modest when the child is sitting down.

Final Exams

Middle school final exams will be held on December 21 and 22.

  • 6th Grade: No Exams
  • 7th Grade: English and Math Exams (early dismissal on Friday, Dec. 22)
  • 8th Grade: English, Science, Math and Chinese Exams (Early dismissal on Thursday, Dec. 21 and Friday, Dec. 22)

It Is Getting Colder…

As the weather continues to get colder, please help our students make wise choices in their attire. It is also helpful for many of our students to have a sweater or warmer shirt to put on when they feel chilly. This will help them stay comfortable and focused on their learning.

Middle School Christmas Party

All middle school students are invited to our annual middle school Christmas Party to be held after final exams on Friday, December 22. We will eat lunch together, play games and celebrate the Christmas season. Busses will be provided for students to go home at 3:30. The party is optional (but highly encouraged) and a permission form will be sent out as we get closer to the date.

Be sure to contact the Admissions office if you are planning on leaving TIS at the end of the semester. This is to allow teachers to help students with their transition out of TIS as well as to inform the school that you will need student transcripts at an early time.

High School Drama

Please join us in supporting our students in “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.” Mrs. Way has done a fantastic job at preparing the cast and the stage for a promising show. We look forward to seeing you there.
