International Day Thank you

Hello! Kia Ora!

International Day was so much fun! It was wonderful to celebrate the diversity of our school and learn more about New Zealand’s culture.

Everyone at TIS would like to thank all the parents that came to our school to enjoy the International Day festivities. We would also like to thank all of the students and staff that worked in manning the stations, learning the Haka dance, and facilitating the day’s events.

Last, but most certainly not least, the biggest thanks goes to our very own Dawn Williams! Without her, there would be no International Day. Thank you, Mrs. Williams, for all your hard work in decorating the school and organizing this wonderful event.

We hope everyone had a great time and would like everyone to be on the lookout for our highlight pictures and video that will come out on our school’s WeChat within the next couple of weeks.

Haere Ra! Goodbye!

From the TIS Health Clinic

Take Action, Prevent the Flu

Flu season is here.  Although not required, we highly recommend getting the flu vaccination to help protect yourself and your family.

Due to a new CDC regulation, we regret that neither Tianjin United Family Hospital nor Raffles will be able provide the flu shot on our TIS campus.

However, the good news is that Tianjin United Family Hospital is providing the flu vaccination at their hospital until the end of the year depending appointment availability and supply.  Here is the information below:

Pediatric Well Clinic (at TJUFH) – Children 3 years to under 18 years old

Flu vaccination fee: 218 RMB  (members or non-members, no consultation appointment needed with doctor)

Available appointment times are :

  •      9 am – 3 pm (Monday to Thursday)
  •      9 am – 4 pm (Saturday)

Family Medicine (at TJUFH) – Adults (over 18 years old)

Flu vaccination fee: 218 RMB (members)

(non-members require a consultation with a doctor for 415 RMB plus 218 RMB for the flu vaccination)

Available appointment times are:

  •      2 pm – 5 pm (Monday to Sunday)

Call TUFH at (022)58568500 and ask the receptionist to make an appointment with a nurse for the flu vaccination or if you are an adult non-member and need to make an appointment with a doctor for consultation followed by flu vaccination.

TIANMUN

Beginning after school on October 25th until October 27th we will be hosting our annual MUN conference. Many students have put hours of difficult work into this weekend and we are confident that we are going to have another great conference. Each year our conference attracts over 400 hundred students with more desiring to attend. This is always a great event and we are thankful for all of the students that are representing the TIS family well. Furthermore, please remember to thank Mr. Jacob Way and Ms. Sherry Wang for their leadership and oversight of this team and event.

Parent Conferences

High school parent conferences may be arranged with Cindy Zhao at secondary-secretary@tiseagles.com. Parent/Teacher conferences will take place on Friday, October 26th. Teachers or Parents may request a conference. If no conference is requested, then no appointment has been arranged for a meeting.

Counselor’s Corner

October is Bullying Awareness Month

During Monday advisory, students discussed bullying and the roles students play in the process. Students also discussed ways that they can help themselves or a friend if bullying occurs.

Students are encouraged to avoid being a bystander (someone who witnesses bullying, but does nothing), and rather to help the situation. HOW?

  •     Don’t participate!
  •     Be a friend to the victim of bullying.
  •     Report bullying to the Principal or Counselor.

Let’s work together to make Tianjin International School a bully-free school!
