International Day ~ Wednesday, 18th October 

We are looking for performers for the Programme part of this Day.  If you know of a traditional dance from your own country; play a traditional instrument, sing, or do a Tae Kwon Do demonstration, etc. Please do contact Dawn Williams (dwilliams@tiseagles.com)

From the Health Clinic

In an effort to best care for your children and to keep them safe, please be reminded that students are not to carry any medication with them while at school.  Should your child need medication during school hours, please send in the medication with this form Medication Permission Form .  You can download and print it here or pick one up at the Health Clinic on the first floor.  Thank you for your cooperation.  The nurses are happy to serve you!

Learning about Safety

For the past four weeks, we have been learning about safety in our weekly assemblies.  The topics so far have included:

  • Fire safety
  • What to do if you get lost
  • The Ask First principle
  • Safe Touches

Ask your child what they have been learning and see how much they remember!

Super Saturday Soccer

If there is heavy rain or an AQI above 200, practice will be canceled. If for any reason practice needs to be canceled, you will be notified by a coach prior to 8am.

 

3rd Grade iPad Roll-Out Celebration

We are happy to announce we will be rolling out the 1:1 iPad program for 3rd Grade on Wednesday, September 20th from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. At this celebration, parents will be given the iPads and will be provided help with basic set up of the device. This will also be a time to learn about the vision and expectations for iPads in the classrooms. A parent must be present in order to receive the iPad. Scipmylo

Scipmylo (Olympics spelled backwards) is coming! On Thursday, September 28th, grades 1-5 will have a day of fun, games and prizes to develop sportsmanship and team spirit. The activity will last from 8:15am until 11:30am. After Scipmylo we will have lunch and an ice-cream treat. Then the students will return to class for the afternoon and will be dismissed at 3:15pm. Dress Code

Often children experience a growth spurt during the summer. Please help your child check to see if their shorts and skirts from last year are still long enough to wear at school. Thank you!

 

Elementary Lunch

Parents are welcome to join their children at lunch, from 11:45-12:15pm. Please eat with your child at the tables to the side of the elementary lunch tables or the picnic tables just outside the cafeteria. If you would like to purchase additional lunch items at school for your child (kimbab, soup, chips, etc…), we ask that you sit and enjoy lunch with them as they eat.

 

ISCOT

The 3rd-5th Grade ISCOT soccer tournament will be held at Wellington on Friday, September 22rd, 2017. More details will be sent home on Monday, September 18th.

 

Mid-Quarter Grade Check

Parents are all highly encouraged to check their children’s grades on a regular basis. Last Wednesday, September 13th, was the middle of the first quarter. If you child is earning a low grade in any course, please talk with your student and contact your child’s teacher for further assistance. There is still ample time for students to improve their performance and increase their grades.

 

Visa Renewal and School Records

Students without a current Passport/Visa will not be allowed to travel or participate in off-campus activities. Please ensure that every student Visa is both updated and the school has the most current Visa recorded in their records. Contact the Admissions office for further information.

 

Half-Day Schedule

Please be aware that students will have a half-day school schedule on Wednesday, September 20.

 

Principal’s Coffee

Thursday, September 21 will be the first Principal’s Coffee of this year. I am looking forward to meeting with you and hope to see many of the parents at this first meeting of the year. Fall Camp is coming up Quick!

Parents, please be aware that students will be leaving school for the annual Middle School Fall Camp on Tuesday, September 26. They will return to school in time to take school bussing on Thursday, September 28.

Boston University Visit – September 21

Boston University will be coming to TIS on the morning of September 21. They will be presenting to interested students and their parents starting at 8:15 in the morning. Interested people are welcome to attend.

 

Fall Camp

Fall Camp is coming up fast! High school will leave for their annual Fall Camp activity on September 26 and will return to school in time to take school busses home on Thursday, September 28. There will be no classes September 29th, the day before our National Day Holiday.
