Admissions Enrollment Testing Day 

Tianjin International School’s enrollment testing day is coming up on November 14. If you are interested in sending your student’s to TIS, please mark this date on your calendar and contact us at +86 (22) 8371-0900 x 311. Fine Arts Celebration Bussing Schedule

 

Christmas Bazaar – December 8th, 2018

Join us here at TIS on December 8 from 10am-2pm for our annual Christmas Bazaar! 🎄 Activities will include food, games, and pictures with Santa! 🎅 Tickets can be be purchased for ¥10 at at the TIS Welcome center or at the gate on the Dec. 8. Middle School Volleyball

Middle School Volleyball starts with practice on Thursday, November 8th. Students are encouraged to contact Mr. Strong for more information. They have already received an email about joining the team.

The Fine Arts Celebration is on the evening of Friday, November 9th. This much anticipated annual event is always a great time to experience the art of our students and to visit. New Staff Member

TIS Family,

It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you Mr. Choi as our new Korean Guidance Counselor. After graduating from Yonsei University, Mr. Choi successfully spent many years in the business world before transitioning to education. He now joins our guidance team with many years of successfully helping students navigate the Korean University application process. Please join with me in providing him a warm welcome to our TIS family.

Teacher Conference

There will be an 11:30 dismissal on Thursday, November 15th and no school on Friday, November 16th for teachers to participate in the annual conference. Educational conferences are an important time of growth and development for staff. The positive impact on the classrooms and students will be a great benefit as a result of the work done on these days.

 

Counselor’s Corner

SAT Subject Tests-November 3, 2018

Student check-in will begin at 7:45 AM. You will not be permitted to enter the school building before 7:30 AM.

  • On test day, bring these things:
  • Printed admission ticket
  • Acceptable photo ID
  • Two No. 2 pencils with erasers
  • An acceptable calculator (if you’re taking an SAT Subject Test in mathematics)

*If your photo ID does not match your admission ticket you will not be admitted to the test center. The name and photo must match the admission ticket.

 

The Language with Listening Tests has specific requirements for acceptable CD players. This information can be found on the Collegeboard website.

As a reminder, acceptable CD players:

  • Must be equipped with headphones
  • Must be portable (handheld)
  • Must be battery operated (no power cords)
  • Cannot have recording or duplicating capabilities

 

Athletics

Important High School Basketball Dates:

Season 2 HS Basketball Tryouts start on Monday, November 5th.  All students who are thinking to tryout for the basketball team should come to practice on Monday, November 5th.

The HS Basketball teams will be coached by the following coaches:

Important MS Soccer Dates:

ISC MS Soccer Tournament

  • Travel on Thursday, November 1st
    • Team will get out of class at 10:15 a.m.
    • Teams will leave TIS at 10:25 to go to the Tianjin South Train Station
    • Train G473 leaves Tianjin South Station at 12:26 p.m. and arrives in Yantai at 6:00 p.m.
  • Team will play soccer games in Yantai on Friday and Saturday of the tournament.
  • Travel on Sunday, November 4th
    • Teams will take Tianjin Airlines Flight GS7922
    • Teams will depart the Yantai airport at 9:40 a.m. and land in Tianjin at 10:50 a.m.
    • Teams will be dropped off at the following places: Tianjin Airport – BDHT – HYCZ – AC – YG100

 

Season 2 MS Volleyball practices start on Thursday, November 8th.  All students who are thinking to tryout for the volleyball team should come to practice on Thursday, November 8th.

The MS Volleyball teams will be coached by the following coaches:
