Tetanus Immunizations

I want to encourage you to take advantage of summer travels outside of China to catch up on immunizations, especially Tetanus.  The tetanus booster is restricted inside China for children over 11 years old, so please check your child’s records to ensure that his/her tetanus is current. If your child’s last tetanus immunization was in 2009 or before, it is time for a booster.   A current tetanus vaccination is required for trips at TIS.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at nurse@tiseagles.com.

Thank you, Mrs. Jeanne Luman, RN

Final Exam Schedule

Students will be emailed their final exam schedules early next week.

Middle School Final Exam Preparation

As your children prepare to show all they have learned this semester, it is helpful to consider how we can support them during the stressful Final Exam time. Parents are strongly encouraged to help their children by:

  • Ensuring they go to sleep early
  • Ensuring they eat well – especially a good breakfast
  • Reminding them they have been working hard all semester for these assessments. Encourage them to relax.

Spring Final Exams:

  • 6th Grade: Math and English
  • 7th Grade: Math, English, Science, Chinese
  • 8th Grade: All Core Subjects

Middle School Awards Assembly

On Thursday, June 7th, MS students will have an awards assembly starting at 10:30am in the TIS auditorium. Parents are invited and encouraged to join in this celebration of all the efforts made by our students this academic year. The program for this event is scheduled to last one hour following 5th grade graduation.

Senior Presentations

Younger siblings wishing to attend a senior presentation are reminded to contact their teachers for permission and to gather any missed work because of the absence from class. Those who have an older sibling, or close friend, graduating this spring are encouraged to attend that student’s senior presentation.

Senior Presentations

Seniors presentations will be taking place the week of May 28th. We are looking forward to hearing their perspectives regarding their education. During this week, Seniors will present, attend presentations, and attend classes as necessary. Seniors that do not have at least an A- in their class are expected to attend class and take the final exam.

Graduation

Seniors will be graduating on June 7th. Preparations are being made for the banquet and ceremony. We are looking forward to this excellent time of celebration. Please note that parents of Seniors will be invited to an informational meeting soon.

Athletics

Thank you to everyone who has supported TIS Athletics this year whether as a fan, parent, teacher, administrator, or as a nurse.  This support of TIS Athletics come in many forms from purchasing tickets, arranging transportation, and cheering on the sidelines during our competitions.

I want to especially recognize all the Middle School and High School student-athletes who have participated in TIS Athletics this year.  They have spent countless hours practicing their sport and competing against other teams.

I want to say thank you to the many volunteer coaches of the TIS Athletics department.  Your efforts and time spent planning, coaching, organizing and evaluating do not go unnoticed.  We would not be able to field 17 teams without your significant contributions.

This year in TIS Athletics we had a total of 17 different teams, 34 coaches, approximately 190 student-athletes, and a total of 242 games played starting in August and ending in April.

I am proud of TIS Athletics and am looking forward to next year!

Mr. Strong
