ISC HS Basketball Tournament

TIS is excited to host the ISC HS Basketball Tournament next week from Thursday to Saturday, February 1st-3rd.  We will host four of our sister schools from across ISC including: International School of Qingdao, International School of Wuxi, Wuhan Yangtze International School, and Chengdu International School.  Over the course of the 3 day tournament 37 different basketball games will be played on our campus.

The TIS Pep Band will be in the gym on Thursday night between 4:00-6:00 p.m. providing great energy and entertainment to the many athletes and fans in the gym.  We are excited to partner with Mr. Hebert and the Pep Band as we bring together both Athletics and the Pep Band on Thursday night.

We will have approximately 180 people involved in the ISC tournament but we still have room in the gym for you.  We would love all parents, teachers, and friends to come to the gym and watch the games with us.  Bring a friend and come cheer on the TIS Eagles as our teams compete against the other ISC schools.

Please see the Athletics section of the Eagles Nest for more detailed information regarding the ISC HS Basketball Tournament.

TIS @ ChengDu Intel Science and Engineering Fair

TIS will be sending two students to the ChengDu Intel Science and Engineering Fair with a truly exceptional project. KangHyoun  Ryu and SeYeon Park have built on current research concerning the antibiotic properties of silver nitrate nanoparticles by creating an amalgam of silver nitrate nanoparticles and Aloe Vera extract.  The organic Silver nitrate nanoparticles demonstrated an improved antibiotic effect against bacteria when compared to silver nitrate nanoparticles alone.  The students hope that this research can someday be used as an additive to existing antibiotics to increase effectiveness in a variety of applications and in doing so, possibly save lives.  Please join us in celebrating the excellence, hard work and brilliance of these two students as they adventure to ChungDu to share their findings with the world!

From the Nurse

During this cold and flu season, please be reminded that good handwashing is the BEST way to prevent the spread of germs.  Frequently wash with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. Recently TIS students were reminded of this and can find this poster in the student restrooms.

CHINA DAY ~ Friday, 9th February ~ this year’s focus:  Sui/Tang Dynasty

“China Day” is a school-wide event to enhance what our students have learnt in their Chinese classes.  Students spend a day immersed in Chinese related activities that will further enrich their education about our Host Country.

First and foremost, it is a “normal” school day, meaning that we keep to the same beginning and ending school hours and the main focus is for our students.

On this day, It is encouraged for ALL students to wear either traditional Chinese clothes or please wear something red.  Theatre Arts does have quite a nice selection of Chinese clothes if you do not have anything to wear for this Day.
