ECC

1st Week of School

Aug. 13

We had a great first week of school. I am looking forward to getting to know the ECC students this year. If you have any questions please reach out to your child’s teacher in ClassDojo and they will get back to you. Just as a reminder please make sure that if you are picking your child up at 3:15 to leave the campus promptly. Please don’t go to the elementary playground and play. When the playground is open again after school we will let you know. We are sorry for this inconvenience but we appreciate your willingness to work with us.

ECC Parent Drop off and Pick up

Aug. 13

It is very important that we keep our students safe at TIS and if you arrive at the ECC before 7:45 the teachers are busy getting ready for the students to arrive. There will not be a teacher in the lobby if students arrive before 7:40 so please make sure you do not drop your ECC child off before 7:45. We want to partner with you in educating your child. This is one of many ways we can work together.

Elementary

We had a great start to the new school year. I am looking forward to partnering with you this year. Please ask your child their highlight of the week. Mine was seeing all the students arrive with excitement and joy on their faces and then getting to talk with them thought the day and hear how their new school year is going.

6th Grade Parent Dinner

Aug. 13

6th grade parents are invited to our annual 6th grade Parent Dinner on Friday, August 20. Details have been emailed to you. We will spend time in fellowship and hear a bit about how 6th graders will enter adolescence, how they will change, and how we can support each other as we support them! Following our time together we will join the Open House program starting at 7:00pm.

Technology

Aug. 13

All students should have a padded carrying case for their laptops and they should use it. Cases should also have a strap so they are easy to carry, reducing slippage and dropping these expensive devices. Parents are encouraged to talk through students' use of their devices and to support teachers in teaching good, safe, responsible habits in carrying their computers.

All 6th graders need to carry their iPads in a padded case to avoid breakage. Please check to ensure your child’s iPad case doesn’t just look good, but will protect from breakage if dropped or jostled.

Lunch Cards

Aug. 13

All middle school students must carry their lunch cards to lunch everyday. Students wishing to add money to their accounts may do so on Wednesdays in the cafeteria or any other day by bringing their money to the finance office. Please only bring 100RMB bills.

Masks

Aug. 13

Help remind your children masks at school are not optional. We all wear masks to keep each other safe.

Fall Play:
Mrs. Way will be sending out information about tryouts and rehearsals for the Fall Play soon. Rehearsals will be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday’s after school this fall.

After-School Help

Aug. 13

Starting next week, students may be asked, or may ask their teachers, to stay with them after school in order to get academic help. Students must be with a teacher after school and should plan to ride the 4:30pm or 5:00pm bus home. Students without an appointment or other responsibilities should take the 3:30pm bus home.

PTO

To all TIS parents

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Steering Committee would like to thank all parents for your help and support in all events this year. Every TIS parent is a member of PTO which plays an essential role in bridging between parents and school. PTO volunteers in school events, as well as organizes activities for parents, such as different classes (e.g. Parenthood, English, Cooking, Chinese, Korean) and social events (e.g. PTO Tea, bake sale, fund raising).

We want to continue to build a strong PTO community; therefore, we encourage more parents to step forward to lead the PTO by joining the PTO Steering Committee. As some of our PTO Steering Committee members will be stepping down and/or leaving, we will re-assemble PTO Steering Committee for the new school year 2021-2022. Parents that are interested to serve the school community and would like to join the PTO Steering Committee, please contact our current PTO representative or email to PTO@tiseagles.com with your name, your child's name and grade to sign up.

Please join us!

Yours,
PTO Steering Committee
