Happy China Day!
This year’s China Day was a super fun time celebrating Chinese New Year and Chinese culture. This year’s theme was Beijing – Past and Present, and every activity and performance tied into the history and atmosphere of this ancient city.
The students did an excellent job in their performances! These performances included lion and dragon dances, beautiful songs, inspired acting, a hilarious talk show, and an incredible martial arts demonstration! It was clear the students practiced very hard to put on a good show for us, and they had fun while they did it!
While we didn’t have our normal vendors and outside talent, our TIS staff, students, and parents provided all the elements we needed for a fantastic China Day! We had great food, fun activities in the gym, and very entertaining attractions, such as candy floss, a tea house, Chinese Chess and Yoyo, and so much more.
China Day is just one of the many ways our students can learn hands-on outside of the classroom. Our students are taking the things they have learned in their Chinese class and applying it their performances to communicate what they have learned. The students are also experiencing Chinese culture through the variety of activities, food, and decorations in every corner of the school. This hands-on learning is one the best things about being at TIS!
Thanks for such a phenomenal China Day! Make sure to check out the pictures, video, and principals’ message for a snapshot of this year’s China Day.
