Fine Arts Festival 2026

Packed with history over our 40 years of education, our school and our district have grown, and in doing so, established events that celebrate the unanimity amongst us. While our athletics tournaments encourage teamwork and healthy competition, our Fine Arts Festival has set a tone of unity. Though from five schools, scattered across the country, students play in the same band, sing in the same choir, act in the same drama, and participate in the same art workshops. There’s no split during the festival; rather, students and teachers work towards the production of an outstanding annual concert.

For the 21st Fine Arts Festival, we welcomed four esteemed guest conductors and artists: Dr. John Fletcher as this year’s conductor for the band; Dr. Derrick L. Thompson as this year’s conductor for the choir; Ms. Lijia Deng as the guest artist; and Mr. Micah Hale as the director for this year’s Fine Arts Festival drama.

After months of practicing separately, the LifePlus schools joined together on Friday, March 20, to finalize all details for the concert. In full swing, our band and choir practiced for hours, each receiving notes and guidance from our guest conductors to give their best show. The drama students took to the stage, learning blocking and turning the performance into a hilarious act. The art students divided their days into workshops and experiences. On Friday, they went to the Tianjin Art Museum, an art block, and painted the beautiful cityscape, using tins as their canvases. On Saturday, they were led by the talented Ms. Deng in Chinese heavy color painting, creating fantastic pieces that were later displayed at the evening’s concert.

To start the 2026 Fine Arts Festival Concert, the band performed five pieces: “Flourish for Wind Band,” “Sparks,” “Earth Song,” “Gates of Morocco,” and “Rondo.” The art students presented their stunning pieces from the day, and with intermission, the crowds were invited to see what they’d worked on over the year. In the concert’s second half, No Substitutes was put on by the wonderful actors and actresses. To finish the night, the choir performed five songs: “Gloria in excelsis Deo,” “Rainy Day,” “Stardust,” “To Sit and Dream,” and “When Dreams Take Flight.” With each presentation and performance, the concert was outstanding and showcased the developed talents of all students within our district.

Thank you to our guest conductors and artists for traveling to our school and leading students to put on a grand performance. Thank you to all teachers and staff members who supported the event. Each person involved helped to make the event memorable.
