LifePlus Fine Arts Festival 2025

A celebration of the arts

Our annual LifePlus Fine Arts Festival invited hundreds to fill our halls and pick up instruments, lyrics, scripts, and paint brushes in celebration of the arts. We welcomed students and teachers from our partner schools, guest choir and band conductors, a guest artist, and a guest drama director. Each of our LifePlus schools has been separately preparing for this year’s Fine Arts Festival Concert. Over two days, all students, teachers, and guest teachers joined in intensive practices and workshops to unite and finalize the talents displayed at the concert.

Beginning the evening, our band of select students was led by guest conductor Dr. Alan W. Mills. Dr. Mills has led music groups throughout the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Europe, and across China, including in the Forbidden City concert hall. Our LifePlus band played “American Riversongs,” “Lookfar: Chorale for Ursula,” “Solace Dance,” and “Prairie Dances.” We cheered on solos from Haoling S., LiYang J., Tony T., YiQian W., JeongHun K., Wei-Chih L., and HeeEun K. Well done to each soloist on your outstanding performances!

Our art students presented an array of pieces – elaborate pieces they’ve worked on over weeks and a collection they created the day of the concert under the guidance of guest artist Ms. Alli Pang. Among Ms. Pang’s artwork, she skillfully prints plants onto fabrics, creating scenes of nature on clothing and accessories. Students followed her direction, designing and printing entire gardens. Students presented these pieces at the concert and were awarded prizes for those pieces they prepared prior to the Festival. Congratulations to JiYul K., who came in second for our Middle School art show!

Led by our guest drama director, Mrs. Amber McTaggart, student actors and actresses performed the play Fast Food, a comedy comprised of hilarious mini-scenes taking place at a fast food restaurant. Mrs. McTaggart has directed several productions, amongst them A Walk Through History, and supported plays at our school, including Chateau La Roach, A Christmas Carol, and the 72-hour Theatre performances. Great work, everyone! You left us laughing with wonderfully memorable scenes and jokes.

Our choir finished the night with notes of hope, presenting five songs, including “How Can I keep from Singing?” “The Warrior,” and “Music Down in My Soul.” From the United States, leading guest choir conductor Dr. Adam Potter is Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor of Music at Roberts Wesleyan University in New York. He has also taught at Delta State University and Dansville High School, lectured at the Kenya Conservatoire of Music, and conducted research at the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory. Thank you for an excellent set, choir!

Well done to all our participating students on this year’s successful Fine Arts Festival. Thank you to all our guests, teachers, and staff who have worked tirelessly to support and prepare for this event. We’re already looking forward to next year’s concert.
