Hear from the Head

TIS Family,

We are two weeks from the end of our first semester. This means concerts, exams, celebrations, and goodbyes are coming quickly. The Christmas season is an important time of year for our school. Come and see the beautiful decorations around the building and the 12 Days of Christmas Tree, and you’ll immediately understand that we enjoy this season. Last week, our Secondary Choirs and Bands performed for a full house in our auditorium, and next week, we will enjoy our ECC and Elementary on the same stage. My hope is that everyone will have an opportunity to enjoy this season in some way with the TIS family.

Compassion

This month’s Quality for Life is Compassion. I am confident that we could all think of a time in our lives where we either experienced compassion from someone, or we wished that we were shown compassion. I am also confident that we all have opportunities in our lives to show compassion to others. Showing compassion to others is a beautiful way to reflect the compassion that has been shown to us.

Christmas Bazaar

The Christmas Bazaar is next Saturday, December 14th. We have over 70 vendors providing food, games, activities, and shopping. New this year, we also have added opportunities for you to win door prizes. Please take some time between 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and join us for this TIS tradition.

Whatever your plans are for Christmas and the New Year, I do trust that you will have time for family, friends, and rest. Let’s finish these last two weeks strong!

Health Office

The winter is coming, and the following period is the most susceptible time to catch a cold. At this time, we need to pay attention to personal hygiene and keep warm to prevent infectious diseases. Because infectious diseases are widely spreading in the city currently, especially among lower-grade students, it would be easy to catch them and should be paid attention to. Please help us to maintain a safe and healthy environment at school by not sending your child to school if they are ill, have a cough or runny nose that cannot be independently controlled inside a classroom, fever at or above 37.7˚C (100˚F), rash related with illness (hand-foot-mouth disease, chicken pox, measles, roseola, etc.), or have vomited or had diarrhea (three or more watery stools in a day) from sickness in the past 24 hours. Even if your children get a lower fever (below 37.7˚C), with any feeling unwell, it’s the best way to let them rest sufficiently at home until full recovery. Your child must be fever-free for 24 hours without any fever-reducing medication to return to school.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep TIS a healthy and safe environment.
