Middle School Canada Math Competition

The competition will be held after school on Thursday, May 15 in Ms. Gilbert’s room, A342. The competition is 25 questions long, all of which are multiple choice and to be completed on paper. You will have one hour to work and may use a four-function or scientific calculator to help. Please expect to MISS the 4:30 p.m. bus and take the 5:00 p.m. bus. If you are interested in competing, please go to the form here to sign up. The deadline for sign ups is Wednesday, April 23.

For the safety of students during extracurricular activities and travel, a tetanus booster shot is also required by the school. TIS requirement of Tdap/DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis three-in-one) is five doses for Grades 1-8. Students must have a booster dose of Tdap after the age of 10 and before Grade 9. In compliance with the recommendations of the CDC/WHO for the safety of all students and in preparation for upcoming TIS Spring trips, all students in Grades 5-12 are required to have a current tetanus vaccination. The tetanus vaccination may be given as either childhood DTaP or adult Td/Tdap and should be updated every 10 years. Our records indicate that some students are due for the Td/Tdap booster since the last shot was about, or more than, 10 years ago. The tetanus booster is not available in China for children older than 12, so getting it outside of China is our best option right now. Please check your children’s immunization records and make plans to obtain this vaccine while traveling outside China. If your child missed this vaccination or others, the holidays are a good opportunity to get a catch-up shot. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep TIS a healthy and safe environment.
