Dear Parents,

We had a wonderful time celebrating Doughnuts with Dads recently! It was heartwarming to see so many dads join us to spend quality time with their children. This long-standing TIS tradition continues to bring smiles and strengthen our school community. After enjoying delicious doughnuts together, the student-dad soccer game added fun and laughter — always a highlight!

Our Student-Led Conferences took place last week, offering a meaningful opportunity for students, parents, and teachers to come together to support each child’s learning and social-emotional development. Students proudly shared their goals and reflected on their progress — a valuable experience for all involved.

Today is another exciting day, packed with activities! We’re thrilled to participate in the ISCOT soccer tournament and showcase our talents in the Elementary Concert. A big thank you to all the families who came to cheer on our ISCOT players and are helping their children get concert-ready later this evening. Your support means so much!

Spring is in full swing, and more events are on the horizon. Next up is Muffins with Moms on May 7th. We can’t wait to welcome all the wonderful moms for another special morning.

Warmly,

Miss Barsalou

Secondary

Dear Secondary Parents,

It was great seeing so many of you last week during Student-Led Conferences. I know this was just our second Student-Led Conference in the high school, but students have adjusted and are thriving. I hope you had an opporunity to ask questions and encourage your child’s teachers. As we approach AP season, remember that our teachers are always approachable and available. Please reach out directly with them or go through the Secondary Secretary or Parent Liaison to schedule meetings. I’m so encouraged to see how much our students have grown and are able to articulate their growth this year.

Also, please come to Principals' Coffee next Wednesday. I will talk about the schedule for next year, and our College and Career Counselor, Shelley Cotton, will talk about the credits needed for graduation. All of this will help you and your child plan the right classes for next year to achieve academic goals. It will be a great time of working together and fellowshipping.

Lastly, come back next Wednesday night for the Secondary Choir Concert. This will be a great night celebrating the musical ability of all our students. See you there!

Warmly,

Mr. Way

Health Office

For the safety of students during extracurricular activities and travel, a tetanus booster shot is also required by the school. TIS requirement of Tdap/DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis three-in-one) is five doses for Grades 1-8. Students must have a booster dose of Tdap after the age of 10 and before Grade 9. In compliance with the recommendations of the CDC/WHO for the safety of all students and in preparation for upcoming TIS Spring trips, all students in Grades 5-12 are required to have a current tetanus vaccination. The tetanus vaccination may be given as either childhood DTaP or adult Td/Tdap and should be updated every 10 years. Our records indicate that some students are due for the Td/Tdap booster since the last shot was about, or more than, 10 years ago. The tetanus booster is not available in China for children older than 12, so getting it outside of China is our best option right now. Please check your children’s immunization records and make plans to obtain this vaccine while traveling outside China. If your child missed this vaccination or others, the holidays are a good opportunity to get a catch-up shot. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep TIS a healthy and safe environment.
