TIS Family,

September represents a season of change. During the month of September, Tianjin loses more than 72 minutes of sunlight from the beginning to the end. The month begins as summer and ends as autumn. However, if you are like me, that is also exciting. I love the intelligent design that creates beauty through seasonal changes, but what I love the most is the cooler weather. The outdoor activities. The fresh air. All of this is a wonderful time for Connection with people throughout the community. Connection is our LifePlus Quality of the month, and I hope that this month provides you with a great connection to other people.

Connection Opportunities

The first Principals’ Coffee is September 10th. We are thankful for the significant number of parents who have registered to join our first gathering. We look forward to these events and look forward to seeing you there.

International Day is only three weeks away. This year’s International Day will be a special occasion dedicated to our 40th school year serving the international community of Tianjin. As we prepare for this celebration, we are reminded that our community is greater than us. The TIS family encompasses all those who have called TIS their school in the past, present, and future.

Educational Leaders

The Principal team will join the Principals from LifePlus for a deep dive into educational data on September 11 and 12. This two-day collaboration event continues to ensure that our students are receiving data-driven, research-based education. The work evidences an ongoing commitment to continuous educational improvement and ensures that LifePlus schools model what it means to Learn, Love, and Lead.

Principals' Coffee - September 10

Our first Principals' Coffee of the year is Wednesday, September 10. Join our Principals who will share about our House system and enjoy some delicious coffee and treats following the presentation. This is an excellent way to stay up to date on how our school is encouraging community and friendships among our students.

Reminder: Bus Stops

Dear Parents,

As we start a new year, I would like to put a reminder out that students should get off at a consistent bus stop, and this should not change unless you have cleared it with me. Even on days when parents ride with their children, students should get off at their usual stop. A parent or caregiver MUST pick up ECC through second-grade students each afternoon. If no one is there to pick up the student, the student will be brought back to school, and the parent will be notified. If another parent has permission to pick up your child, please communicate this with me, and I will make sure that it is communicated clearly with your child's bus ayi.

AP Self-Study Sign Up

An email has been sent to all students and parents regarding AP Self-Study Sign Up. Please review this email with your student and complete all action steps before the deadline of November 14th.

AP self-study means the student will take an AP exam, but there is no class at school for that subject. Your child must study alone, find their own books and materials, and prepare outside of class time.

TIS will help with registering for the exam and allow for students to test during the May AP exam dates but not with teaching the content.
