ECC & Elementary

Dear Parents,

This week, we had a great time with so many moms, grandmas, and aunts coming to school to enjoy muffins and make bracelets with their children. It is the complementary day to Doughnuts with Dads, and we are so grateful for these special days when we can celebrate families.

Over the past month, the ECC held assemblies to showcase each class's learning, and they were wonderful on Friday mornings. Tonight, the 1st-5th graders will showcase what they have been learning in music, and the drama club will showcase what they have been learning this year. We hope to see you all this evening for our Elementary concert.

In just a few weeks, 4th grade will have their first Spring Trip, a campout; 5th grade will take their first trip outside the Tianjin city center; and 6th grade will take their first all-week trip. It is an exciting time for our upper Elementary students. Parents, please watch for communication coming home with your child or in your email inbox.

We have some fun weeks ahead. Please read your messages regularly.

Secondary

Dear Parents,

What a great two weeks it has been in the Secondary. In particular, High School students have been hard at work showing what they know on their AP exams. I have had the pleasure of proctoring two of these exams and can attest to every student’s focus, exceptional effort, and preparedness for each exam. Thank you Mrs. McTaggart for organizing and running all the exams. Thank you teachers for your dedication to teach with excellence to prepare your students. Thank you students for exemplifying the high academic standards we have at TIS. I’m proud of all of you!

I also hope to see you at the Secondary Band Concert on Wednesday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m. and the Secondary Choir Concert on Thursday, May 21, at 7:00 p.m. Spring Concerts are always an incredible summation of a year of growth and development. I love seeing the performing arts move us all towards the true, good, and beautiful. I’ll see you there next week!

Lastly, Spring Trips are the week after next. Our students will travel all around China to experience culture, serve others, and bond together as classes. These trips are formative and unforgettable. Please be sure to check the packing list sent by your students’ trip leader and prepare them accordingly. I look forward to seeing the pictures and hearing the stories from these great trips!

Secondary Band Spring Concert

Our Secondary Band Spring Concert will be held on Wednesday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m. Enjoy our students wonderful talents and an evening of music that will whisk you away to a Spring adventure!

Secondary Choir Spring Concert

Our Secondary Choir Spring Concert is coming up on Thursday, May 21, at 7:00 p.m. This music will remind you of the hope that endures even amidst the world’s troubles.

SCIPMYLO

Our SCIPMYLO event is only a week away and promises to be a day packed with fun games and sports. Teams will be sorted into our four Houses to compete for the SCIPMYLO Cup, and points will go towards the end-of-year House Cup.

Please have your child wear their House shirt. If it’s gone missing or no longer fits, there are House shirts available for purchase at the HUB. Parents, please also join us on Friday, May 22, to take part in this wonderful day.

Early pickup: If you need to collect your child before 2:15 p.m., please inform your child’s teacher in advance.

The end of the year is coming, and with it, our final Outdoor Classroom and Elementary Parent Lunch. The last opportunity to join will be Wednesday, May 20.

HKUST Pre-University Programs - Now Open

Applications are now open for the Pre-University Programs at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. These programs offer students a valuable opportunity to explore university-level learning and gain exposure to a range of academic fields.

Interested students should plan ahead and reach out to Mrs. McTaggart for support with the application process. Application Deadline: May 31, 2026

Library

The last day for ECC and Elementary students to check out books is Friday, May 29. The final due date for our ECC and Elementary students' Library books is Friday, June 5.
