Senior Highlights Part 3

Our Seniors have made incredible strides in their last year with us. They’ve stretched themselves to learn on deeper levels, taking AP and Honors Courses, completing service projects, and taking on leadership positions. They’ve envisioned their futures and are gearing up to begin.

YunJin L. has been with us for more than a decade. Arriving in the second semester of her first grade, our school has watched her grow and become an even more intelligent and driven student. In her High School years, she has taken on leadership roles at Tianjin Model United Nations (TIANMUN) Conferences and joined the drama makeup team. She’s taken numerous AP and Honors Courses with a significant focus on history. Along with her other AP and Honors Classes, she’s taken AP World History, AP Art History, AP European History, AP United States History, and Honors Ancient World History. With this passion, YunJin plans to major in History at university. She’s been accepted into both The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). Her favorite memories during her many years here are from Spring Trips, when she had “the chance to bond with classmates and friends.”

For fourteen years, Martha Jean L. (MJ) has shared a deep spirit of creativity and curiosity with our community. She’s supported the drama makeup team. She’s taken Honors Philosophy, Honors Robotics, and multiple language courses, including English, Chinese, and French. As she prepares for graduation, she’s also readying herself for her transition back to the U.S.A., where she plans to work and acclimatize. She shares that if she takes on a university major, “it would likely have to do with animals or hairdressing.”

Arriving at the tail end of his Freshman year, Nathan S. has made deep roots, excelling in his academics, extracurriculars, and friendships. He’s taken part in Model United Nations (MUN) Conferences as a delegate, been part of the volleyball and soccer teams, and played in the Jazz Band and Jazz Improvisation Band. He’s taken the four Honors Classes, Honors Chemistry, Honors Ancient World History, Honors Philosophy, and Honors English II; and he’s taken AP Chemistry, AP Economics, and AP Language and Composition. Nathan shares, “My favorite memory in TIS was spending time playing volleyball with others, letting loose, and just enjoying ourselves.” Set for graduation, Nathan will soon begin his next chapter at the prestigious Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines, where he’ll major in AB Political Science. While still considering career options, Nathan shares, “It is my goal to pursue a career that can make a positive impact in the lives of those around me in that particular field.”

Also with us for many years, WonJun S. has been part of our school since Kindergarten and has taken active roles throughout. Since his Freshman year, he’s been on the soccer, volleyball, and basketball teams. He’s joined MUN Conferences. He’s been part of our Student Council and served as President in his Senior year. He shares that many of his favorite school memories have come from these times. “These experiences were meaningful because they allowed me to build strong friendships and contribute to the school community.” WonJun has also taken AP and Honors Classes, including AP Economics, AP Statistics, AP Computer Science A, Honors Philosophy, Honors Robotics, and more. WonJun eagerly looks ahead to university and has applied to the top universities, Yonsei University and Korea University, and plans to major in Business.

Well done, YunJin L., Martha Jean L., Nathan S., and WonJun S! You’ve each shone in your years here, and we’re sure you will even beyond our halls.
